Part Time Program for Home Schoolers
Faith Lutheran High School welcomes home school students looking for assistance with their high school curriculum. Daily assistance from a professional teacher with expertise in specific subject areas helps home school students reach their fullest potential. By attending Faith Lutheran High School on a part-time basis, students still have the flexibility to continue working with their home school curriculum.
Athletic and School Activities Eligibility
Faith Lutheran High School is a member of the Illinois High School Association (IHSA) and strictly follows the regulations and by-laws established by their organization. Under the provisions of IHSA By-law 3.011, any student, including one who is home schooled, must meet four specific requirements to be eligible for interscholastic participation at Faith Lutheran High School:
- The student must be enrolled at Faith Lutheran High School in a minimum of two (2) academic classes.
- The student must be taking and passing a minimum of twenty (20) credit hours of work (the equivalent of four .5 credit courses per semester) at Faith Lutheran High School AND in a program approved by Faith Lutheran High School. All eligibility standards set by Faith Lutheran High School still apply (weekly and quarterly checks will be made).
- The student will be granted credit toward graduation by Faith Lutheran High School for the work taken either at Faith Lutheran High School or in a program it has approved.
- The student must be in compliance with all the eligibility requirements of all IHSA by-laws. (Residence, Transfer, Scholastic Standing, etc).
Tuition and Fees
The cost of tuition is approximately 1/7 of full tuition for each class taken. For example, if a student takes three classes their tuition cost is 3/7 of the regular tuition. Any student taking five (5) or more classes in a semester will be charged full tuition.
Full registration, activity, book, and lab fees are applied to part-time students.
Graduation Requirements for Part-Time Students
Any home school student wishing to receive a diploma from Faith Lutheran High School must take a minimum of four (4) academic classes per semester for a minimum of two straight years in conjunction with a home school program approved by Faith Lutheran High School. Students who wish to apply for a waiver from this requirement, must petition the school administration by the end of the first quarter of the student’s 12th grade year. Waivers for this requirement will be made only in extremely rare situations.
