Smaller is Better!

Faith Lutheran High School has been educating high school students since 2004 when we opened our doors to 8 students at St. John's Lutheran Church in Union, IL.  Since that time we have established a reputation as a Christ-centered school with high academic standards.

High school years are the "make or break" years, when teenagers either get on the right track academically, spiritually and behaviorally - or they fall into trouble. At FLHS, we are committed to preparing students to become all that God intends them to be.  A Lutheran education means your student will study each subject from a Christ-centered perspective. Bible classes fan the flames of growing faith while Christian teachers and coaches provide positive examples for living a Godly life. Classes are small and hallways are safe. Good friends help each other stay accountable in daily life.

Academically speaking, Faith Lutheran High School has the blessing of being able to address a variety of learning needs – both those who are need of an extra academic challenge and those who find academics to be challenging.

The smaller size of the student body and small class sizes help teachers to recognize and work with students of all abilities.    It also gives students better opportunities to get help outside normal class time.  Besides assisting with unique learning needs, the curriculum of Faith allows students more than a little preparation for college.  100% of our graduates in 2011 went on to post secondary education.  For the past three years our students have earned an average of 25.2 on the ACT college entrance exam.  Exceeding the state average by more than 16 percent, FLHS has the highest ACT average in McHenry County.   We have honors courses in English, Pre-Calculus, Physics, and Anatomy/Physiology.  We currently offer an advanced placement (AP) course in Calculus and have plans to add AP US History, Literature, and Physics within the next two years.  We also offer two foreign languages: Spanish and German.

Realizing that high school is a opportune time for a young person to discover his/her gifts and talents, we require all students to participate in at least one extra-curricular activity.  Over 75 percent of our students participate in multiple activities.  Because we are smaller than many schools, students who want to play a sport or be involved in drama, student council, music, or other after-school program have that opportunity.

Thank you for considering Faith Lutheran.  If you would like more information about us, please feel free to call the school office at any time (815) 479-9305.
